Aloha! I talk to thousands of travelers and owners each year, one of my first questions is, “when do you want to be in Maui?” The most common answer…”Now!” Really, that is not wrong at all. Maui, and especially south Maui in Kihei is blessed with a rain shadow effect from the 10,000 volcano Haleakala. Kihei is known as the sunny side of Maui. Whether you travel in dead of winter, February or middle of summer in August you’ll find sunshine and comfortable evenings.
So why the big swing in pricing!? February can be twice as expensive for rentals and timeshare ownership’s then the dryer August time period. The answer is on the mainland…snow drifts and sub zero temperatures in Canada and much of the U.S. bring travelers to Maui.
